Dentists Doctors Needles and Cars

Today was not a good day. It was not a bad day either, but I had to do a whole bunch of things that I do not really enjoy today. Beginning with an early morning trip to the dentist. I hate going to the dentist, nothing good ever happens at the dentist. I had to get a filling in a broken tooth and that involves a novacane shot. Needles are not my favorite things. Then I had to go get a physical for my new job. Blood drawn and a TB test, once again, more needles. I had tons of paperwork to fill out and then had a HR meeting with more paper work. I really want to discuss the benefits with me mum, but she is away on a work trip for the next three days. And the sad fact is, at the grand old age of 28 there haven't been many days where I haven't seen me mum. I've gone on vacation before but my rents aren't big on traveling, so she's always been here. Another sad fact is that after a day of poking and prodding, doctors, dentists and needles I just really want a hug from my mom. Oh god do I feel pathetic right now.

In any case I had a good weekend or at least a good Sunday. A few friends, the boy and I went to the Greater Lehigh Valley Car Show. Now I could care less about cars or most kinds of shopping but I love car shopping. Don't know why; guess I just like shopping for the expensive stuff.

I didn't sit in anything that would make me want to give up my Wrangler but a few highlights were my Mustang. If I could buy a car that was completely pointless and somewhat useless it would be the new Ford Mustang (wouldn't mind having the Shelby but that is being awfully greedy). I also liked the Miata and the Porche. If I ever needed a SUV type vehicle I would of course buy a Jeep. I like the Grand Cherokee, but I would rather have the Liberty for size.

So that was my weekend. I'm going to go find someone to give me a hug now.

Drift off to dream

Here I sit, the boy in the other room sound asleep, and I'm planning on soon joining him.

It seems that I have cleared the rut my life had gotten into these last few days. I have a new job that pays a whole lot more money and the day that I finally move out and be on my own seems a lot closer. The job seems like it will be fun or at least the people seem to be cool. The job is pretty much what I do at the library. I'll be working at the mental heath facility of a local hospital as the "office coordinator". Even sounds spiffy, don't it?

So what else has been going on in my life?

Not much really. Went to see Roadside America two weekends ago. For those who don't know it's a huge indoor miniature village and train set. (Don't feel bad, I had never heard of the thing until a little while ago either.) It was pretty interesting. Unfortunately I ended up getting a migraine. Now I don't think I've ever really had a migraine before, but those who have told me my symptoms of nausea and sensitivity to light made it more than a headache. I took two advil sinus and then zonked out for a few hours.

Last weekend was spent at a sort-of friends baby shower. I say sort of because she was the boy's next door neighbor growing up and is very close to the boy's mom. I've gotten to know her a little and she is very sweet. And very pregnant. I did feel a wee bit uncomfortable at the shower since I only knew three people out of about 25 and I'm not really a shower type person. Luckily the house it was held in is residence to three dogs and two cats and my allergies were not happy, so I was able to leave rather early.

As far as movies go, it has been a Harry Potter week. Some friends had never seen any of the movies or read the books so we decided to watch all of the movies. Yes I am a huge fan of the books and think that the movies are butchering each book one by one, but I also can recognize them as decent movies without comparing them to the books. - Most of the time. But, just going on the movies, I think my favorite movie has been the most recent, The Goblet of Fire. This may be because it is my favorite book, or it may have to do with the computer animated dragon that was in it. I REALLY want my own little miniature version of the welsh green. Anyway, the one thing that bugged my through the movie was Harry's hair. I know that a continuing theme in the books is Harry's inability to control his hair, but for some odd reason in the movie it just looked like Harry kept waking up with bed head or something. I don't know. It just irked me.

Err... think think think.

Zathura, another sort of Jumanji type story. Very good movie actually. Quite fun, and no thinking involved. The older brother plays a convincing brat while the younger brother is just as convincing as an annoying younger brother. Worth watching.

Think that's it for now. Night night.

Weekend Update

Song: The Dance - Garth Brooks
Current Read: Tales of Pain and Wonder - Caitlin R Kiernan
Movie: Walk the Line

I took Friday off from work to spend the day with my brother because it was his birthday. Had a fun day of shopping and a nice dinner.
Friday night we went to see a friend and his band. A lot of fun was had, good music and fun conversation. But I stayed out too late and had to get up for work the next morning. I was so tired. I don't know how I did this before. I must be getting old.

Saturday night was spent doing karaoke at the bar. I have been singing for a while now, but I still get nervous about it. A long time ago the boy and I made a deal. He would dance with me if I sang. Well like I said, I've been singing for a while now, but anytime there was an opportunity for him to dance with me, his bum leg would be acting up and he could barely stand up with out help, let alone dance with me. But last night the stars must have been in the right spot because when someone started singing The Dance he finally got up and danced with me. And he actually danced with me a second time later that night. I was in Heaven.

Today we went to Crystal Cave and did the tour with some friends. This was the first cave that I have ever been in and it was pretty cool. Once the boy found out that I haven't been in any of the caves in this area he decided that this summer was going to be the Cave Tour of PA summer. Should be fun. After we got home from our spelunking adventure we took a nap. It was a good nap. The kind of nap Sunday's were made for. Afterwards we watched Walk the Line. Very good movie. My only problem, being a Johnny Cash fan, was that I missed the real voice of Johnny. Joaquin Phoenix did an amazing job singing but he didn't quite get all of the emotion that I usually feel when I listen to JC. Even without it though it was still a really good movie.
