how do I look?

Ta Da!

The new look for my blog. Yes I did get bored enough to change it. I'm not sure if I like it. It's kind of got a rainy feel to it. Of course it goes with the weather we've had around here lately. I had originally intended for all of the gray to be white, but that was rather harsh on the eyes so I grayed it down. Now it's easy to read, but it looks gloomy.

Unfortunately rain ruined our plans for Saturday night. A group of friends were supposed to go to the Eastern State Penitentiary for their haunted prison tour. But it was raining so hard that no one (except me) wanted to go.

Of course by the morning the sun was out, so the boy took me for a Harley ride. A very chilly Harley ride, but a ride none the less.

So for now I leave you with my new look. Hope you enjoy it.

Spooky Thoughts

Quote: Hubba-hubba-wha? - Kermit the frog

Once again I have been yelled at for my lack of blogging. Apparently people actually read this thing. Who'da thunk it?

It seems that my wonderful soft top for my jeep was not designed for the torrential downpour that we had last week. I think I must have shop-vaced almost three gallons of water out of my jeep last Sunday. And that was only after two days of rain. For the rest of the week we still had rain and my car never did dry right. Now there is a little bit of a smell. Hopefully it will be gone before I put the hard top back on it.

My 28th birthday came and went without much of a bang. My list of gifts:

An iPod
The Muppet Show Season One on DVD
Fraggle Rock Season One on DVD
Hot Topic Gift Card
Two art Dragon books by Bob Eggleton
2006 Pressed Faeries Calendar signed by Brian Froud
Two Dragon Statues
An Faerie painting by a friend

Halloween festivities have already begun. Last Saturday the boy, myself and a friend went to Shocktoberfest. We had a great time. The boy and I don't get scared, so it was nice to go with someone who did. This weekend we are going to The Eastern State Penitentiary.

Should be fun.

The road less traveled

CD: Ten Thousand Fists - Disturbed
Quote: But then one day a really strange feeling came over me. My feet got real itchy, and I couldn't sit still, and I began to see the road in my dreams. ... That road. Out there. I saw it stretch out before me, and at the end I saw high mountains with snow on their peaks and green valleys covered with wildflowers and dark spooky forest cities with high walls and castles shining in the sun, vast seas with foam flecked waves. The dreams were wonderful, and when I woke up and found myself surrounded by four walls, I was so sad I'd almost burst out crying. - Brothers in Arms, Weis and Perrin

My weekend started with a haunted hayride. The boy's parents invited us to go with them. Basically it was a group of people going on a private hayride. We went somewhere out into the wilderness and got on this hay truck. The truck took us through all these back roads and we ended up at a bar where we all had dinner. Then we got back onto the hay truck and wend driving. We ended up at another bar and by this time most of the adults on the ride were drunk. Oh yes, did I fail to mention that these people also brought their own alcohol? So there were some very drunk people. And some bratty kids, but that's beside the point. After the last bar the wagon drove us around a little and then took us back to our cars. The only problem was that I was freezing. This journey was kind of a surprise to me and I was not fully prepared for how cold it was going to be. But the whole night was actually a lot of fun. I got to cuddle with my boy in the cold air and it was quite funny watching all of these people get drunk. When we finally got back to the boys house it was after midnight. I laid down, fully dressed, on his bed and fell asleep long before he got out of the shower. I woke up around 5 and got ready for bed.

This morning we woke up around noon and decided to go for a drive. We headed north and just kept going. About three hours into the trip we decided to head for the ocean. So we headed east to Jersey. For some odd reason we could not get to the ocean. We drove all around New Jersey, and boy let me tell you how wonderful that was. We missed an exit and ended up driving through Newark airport. We kept joking as to whether we should be incoming or departing, national or international flights. We then somehow found ourselves looking at the New York skyline. Oh did I mention that this trip was complicated by the fact that neither one of us brought any cash with us and we didn't even have enough money to pay toll fees? Eventually it started getting late and dark. We couldn't really see the map anymore so we had to turn around and find a highway we knew so we could get back home. We never did find the ocean. We did however accomplish our goal of taking a long drive and wasting a tank of gas. Oh and we had fun. Of course after seven hours of driving, my butt was not very happy.

I leave you with a picture of the NY skyline, a NJ road sign, and clearly visible bug smudges on my windshield. Enjoy.

All right, time for bed.
