Mini - Vacation

Another wonderful day in DC. Yes, I, the boy, and two of my friends once again ventured to Washington DC. Learning from the last trip, we decided to leave all children at home and leave the night before. The plan was to get a hotel right by the metro station the night before and the next morning, bright and early, take the metro into DC and see tons of stuff. That was the plan. And like the best laid plans of mice and men, it didn't quite work out that way. We left around 10 pm. In good traffic DC is about 3 hours away. We made excellent time and got into DC around 1 am. Where we tried to find a hotel. Emphasis on tried. We could not find a hotel in DC to save our lives. And this wasn't even in downtown DC, this was on the outskirts. So we had to backtrack a little ways down the highway and find a hotel there. By the time we found one, it was 2:30 am. We all shared a room; cheaper that way. By the time everyone got settled it was after 3. The boy had to take a shower because he hadn't taken one, so while my two friends were snoring away I was laying in bed listening to the shower, trying desperately to fall asleep. I don't sleep well anywhere but in my own bed. I can sleep at the boy's house, but not as well as at home. So even after the boy crawled into bed I could not fall asleep. He very quickly joined the others in their slumber. (Sometimes I think he's got an on and off switch, he falls asleep so fast.) I did finally fall asleep, but I didn't sleep very soundly. We all woke up around 8 am, without the wake up call that we were supposed to get, and went down for the free breakfast that the hotel offered. By the time everyone was showered and ready to go, it was 9:30. To make a long story a little shorter, by the time we reached our first destination it was about 11 am. The same time we got there the last time.
We did a quick two hour tour of the zoo, and left for downtown DC. We spent about 3 hours in the Smithsonian's Museum of Natural History. This put us at 5 pm. Everything in DC closes at 5:30 so we decided to walk around and see some more monuments. We saw the Washington Monument, The World War II monument, The Lincoln Memorial, The Korean War Memorial, and The Vietnam Memorial.
I had no intention of buying any souvenirs for myself, but I ended up having to buy a cheap t-shirt because my shoulders got so badly burned that I had to cover them up. Yes, I tried to use sun block, but the only kind I could find that didn't have aloe in it was stuff my dad had from years ago, and it only had an SPF of 6. Why does it matter if it has aloe in it you ask? Because I'm allergic to it and I break out in itchy hives. And I have already mistakenly used stuff that had aloe in it and I ended up with the aloe burned into my skin, because I burned anyway. You don't even want to know how badly that itched. (So if anyone has a brand of sun block that doesn't have aloe in it, with a high SPF, please let me know.)
The best part of the day for me, was when the camera shy boy let a friend snap a few pictures of us in front of the Pennsylvania wall at the WWII monument. I got tons of great pictures, but my favorite picture was one I didn't even take.

Things that make me smile

1. The song "Should have been a cowboy" by Toby Keith. Especially the line "go west young man, haven't you been told, California's full of whisky, women and gold."

2. Knowing that the boys think of me as one of the boys, and yet still notice when I look pretty and smell good.

3. The boy reaching out for my hand while listening to the song "I'll try" by Alan Jackson. "I'll try to love only you, and I'll try my best to be true..."

4. Soft sheets, soft pillows, warm covers and air conditioning.

5. Rambling voice mails from best friends.

6. My brother bought a hat for my boyfriend.

7. Mini-vacations.

8. Knowing that she knows that I know. And that I let her know I knew in front of people who had no idea about what we were talking about.

9. New book smell.

10. Funny redneck tan lines.

11. Russell Crowe.

12. Russell Crowe in Cinderella Man.

13. Free deserts from friends who work in dinners.

14. The Neverending Story.

15. Playing games on Pogo.

16. And uh... Russell Crowe

Good Times

Song: Should Have Been a Cowboy - Toby Keith
Quote: I can believe in a whole hell full of ghosts and goblins or a heaven full of angels before I can believe I'm better off being ignorant about anything. - Low Red Moon, by Caitlin R. Kiernan

Yawn... boy am I tired. And boy am I going to be sore tomorrow. We went four wheeling again today, and I was at the wheel. I somehow managed to smack my chin once again. Now I have a bruise on the underside. Doesn't look too bad though, you wouldn't notice it unless I pointed it out. Right now my body is so tired but I can't get comfortable in bed so I decided to play on the computer. I was actually trying to fall asleep at the boy's house, but I could not get comfy in his bed tonight, so I came home to my bed. Sigh. I really wish that my bed was big enough for the both of us. Hell, his bed is barely big enough for the two of us and he's got a King. Uh, kinda got off subject there. My brain is apparently tired as well. What was I talking about? Oh yea, four wheeling. We had a great time. I was able to do more stuff this time, I was a lot more comfortable driving the four wheeler. I still have a thing about going down hill. I don't mind going up hills, I just don't like going down. I wouldn't say I have a fear of heights, it's more a fear of falling from them. LOL. As long as I feel like I'm not going to fall, I don't mind heights, but if I'm standing on a drop that doesn't have a wall, I get scared. So whenever I would go down a hill, I would look down and all I could think about was falling off the front of the four wheeler and going tumbling down the hill. Or rolling the damn thing, cuz lord knows I've already rolled a car; seems to me a four wheeler would roll a lot easier than that. Anyway, my favorite thing to do on the quad is to go all out on almost level ground. I like going over the little whoop de do's too.

Yawn. I think I'll try going to bed again. I will however leave you will a great picture from last Saturday, when myself the boy and a few friends went to the bar to see Emily's Toybox.

Falling Water

So, another week gone by. Well a little more than a week, but who's counting? What happened this week? Well on Wednesday night my car got broken into. Whoever did it was nice enough not to ruin my beautiful (expensive) soft top. They just popped the snaps and undid the Velcro far enough so they could unlock the door. I'm saying they because there have been a string of incidents in my neighborhood involving a gang of young men... so I'm just assuming. They went through my glove compartment and my cup holders. Now here is where it gets weird. They didn't take the radio, they didn't take my easily removable speakers, the case of cds under the seat, or go through the center consol. The did however take the little case of cds sitting in between the seats. A case that was filled with burned cds that were so badly scratched none of them played completely through. So, whoever did it, either got scared away before they could finish, did it just to prove they could, or were just really stupid crooks.

In more cheerful news my Sunday with the boy was excellent. We woke up late and didn't care and then spent another half hour in bed. Wink wink. When we finally got out of bed we headed off to Bushkill PA. I drove my jeep with the top back and the wind blowing through both our blond hair. Actually I had my hair in a pony tail and the boy was wearing at hat, but you get the point. When we got to the falls we went on our chosen trail... the red trail... the longest and most difficult trail they had. The red trail went to every fall in the area. Actually it wasn't that hard at all, the worst part was all of the steps. After the hike the boy made me one of those smooshed penny things that imprints a picture onto the penny. The picture I chose was one that said _I survived the red trail - 1267 Steps - Bushkill Falls PA". Yep, you read that right - 1267 steps. And most of them went up. But the boy and I had a really great time and I took some awesome pictures.

See... told ya... great pics.

After Bushkill he and I went driving around the Poconos to see what else there was to do and decided to go to the Flea market and Bazar. We walked around for a while, had some ice cream and were on our way. Then we went home and layed around for the rest of the evening. A great day.

Cool Air

Song: Some Girls Do - Sawyer Brown
Quote: Mos Eisley space port. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. - Obi Wan Kanobi

All right, so I haven't done much since I last blogged. All I've really done is gone to work.
I did go price shopping for a small window air conditioner for the boy's room this morning. He had asked me to go check the price at a small little store that usually has cheap stuff. Well the lowest priced one was $129. Which to us broke folks is far too much. He can only really afford about $50 but unknown to him I am willing to donate to his cause. I recall how last summer his room was much like a sauna. Last year at this point our relationship was just beginning and I didn't spend many nights at his house. But since I've been sleeping at his house more, I want to be comfortable. Another wonderful fact is the boy radiates heat. A feature that came in handy all winter. But during the summer, it's not such a great thing, so I want the bedroom as cool as possible so we can still cuddle and not stick together.
Tomorrow after work he and I will go shopping, and hopefully find a really cheap one.

All righty, going to watch a little more Star Wars A New Hope before I go to bed.

"You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought."
"Nice"

Star Wars, Skirts and Harley Davidson Shoes

Song: Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy - Big and Rich
Quote: If there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from. - Luke Skywalker

One week gone by already? My how the time do fly.
I've seen Star Wars a total of three times now and the last time was with the boy at the drive in. Believe it or not, I've never been to the drive in before. We went in his truck, which has a sound system better than some theaters I've been in. The seats are comfy, but I was a little bothered by the bird doo in the corner of the windshield that the wipers just couldn't reach.
I've switched my days at work so that I now have Sunday off. This means as long as the boy isn't working we will have a full day together every week. This Sunday we are planning on going to Bushkill Falls. Next Sunday we are going four wheeling and the following Sunday we are going to the Washington DC zoo with two of my friends. Should be a fun month.
I don't know what's gotten into me lately but I'm making fashion decisions I wouldn't normally make. I actually went out and bought a skirt. Now this may not seem like a big deal, but if you know me, you know I'm not much of a girl. LOL The skirt is pretty long, goes down to my ankles. The store called it "bohemian" but Hawke and I have always called them broomstick dresses.
Of course after I bought the skirt I realized I really didn't have any shoes to wear with it because I actually haven't owned a skirt in... oh about ten years or so. Plus I really didn't think my Harley Davidson boots would go really well with the skirt. So I went out looking for a pair of black sandals to wear with it. And of course after much searching, I decided to go with a pair of... Harley Davison sandals. Hawke saw a picture of them and decided that they were very me. I'm not sure how well they go with the skirt, but oh well. I saw them and had to have them.
Now I REALLY sound like a girl.
