A gravity defying time.

A few weeks or months ago (not sure really) I found a book called Weird Pa. It's a book that goes through all of the oddities that you can find in Pa. It's part of a series of books along the same line: Weird New Jersey, Weird New York ect. Well, yesterday the boy and I decided to find gravity hill. It's a road, in the middle of nowhere and if you stop your car at the bottom of the hill and put it into neutral the car will begin rolling up hill. Yes your read that right, up hill. So we drove almost three hours through farmland PA with bad Yahoo directions, parked my jeep at the bottom of the hill and were quite amazed when the car started rolling up hill. I think it's an optical illusion but the boy doesn't think so. He wants to borrow the grading tool from the company he used to work for and try to take the grade measurements of the hill. In any case it was interesting.

Since we were in the middle of nowhere we decided to stop at a park where we talked to a man who told us we should go see the Flight 93 Memorial sight. Since we were only 10 miles away we decided to go. It was a small thing, but clearly marked that it was a temporary memorial. After that we decided to head for home.

One of the funnier moments of the day came before we found gravity hill. We were following our wonderful Yahoo directions and couldn't find the road that was listed. So we decided to get off of the highway and get gas. We drove a while through farms and farms and could not find a gas station. Then the fuel light came on in the Jeep and we started to get worried. Another 20 minutes of driving found us a broken down station with bags over both pumps. Finally, frustrated and really worried we asked the first person we saw where the closest gas station was. He assured us it was less than 2 miles away and luckily we found it. The whole time we were driving we passed one car on the road, but we did pass four horse and buggies. Driving through Amish/Mennonite country is interesting. No wonder we had such a hard time finding a gas station.

We returned home in time to watch a movie with friends. We saw the Fantastic Four. Not one of the best comic book turned movie I have seen but it was amusing. It was funny with good special effects but it seemed to be lacking any sort of real plot. You had the good guys and they were not really doing any good, you just knew they weren't bad. Then you had the bad guy and you knew he was bad, but he didn't really have a plan other than being... bad. All in all it was a fun movie.

Another movie worth watching is Underworld 2. A lot of action and a good plot make this one almost better than the first Underworld.

One million dollars

For some odd reason I was thinking about the Bare Naked Ladies song "If I Had a Million Dollars". Not that I'm a really big fan of the band but remembering the song made me think about what I would do if I had a million dollars.

1. Pay off my Jeep..
2. Buy a nice house with at least ten acres of land around it.
3. Pay for my mom's eye surgery.
4. Do something really nice for Mouse.
5. Pay off the boy's truck.
6. Buy a Harley for myself to ride.
7. And a Harley for me and the boy to ride together.
8. Get a couple of four wheelers

And I would probably save the rest for a rainy day.

To Blog or Not to Blog II

My goodness... people actually read this damn thing?

After my last blog every person that I know, that reads this blog has come up to me and asked me if it was their fault I didn't want to blog anymore.

Well the answer is yes and no. Since this blog started oh so long ago, I have never really put down everything I was feeling. There were times (when I knew no one was reading) that I posted some more personal/emotional blogs. When I knew that people were actually reading I started censoring what I was writing. After I met the boy and finished school, I started to only write occasionaly when something happened.

This last month has not been a great one for me, and when I realized that I felt I couldnt' even blog about what was happening because it was so personal, I got pissed and wrote that I probably wasn't going to write anymore.

After thinking about it for a week or so I realized that my blog is something that some people like to read. It kept my mother up to date on what I'd been doing on vacation.

So perhaps I will keep writing.

to blog or not to blog

This blog was started as a place for me to gripe about anything I wanted to. Now too many people who know me know the address and I'm not sure I feel comfortable writing personal things about myself here anymore. I'm a private person and I feel that not everyone is entitled to my inner most thoughts.

I'm not sure I'll be blogging very much any more. At least not about anything important anyway.

Sodok-who?

I have however become mildly addicted to the number puzzle called Sodoku. It's a nifty thing that will occupy a lot of time.

Have fun.

Year in Review

Spent New Years Eve with they boy and friends at Montana West with a few hundred other people. Rung in the new year with a fabulous kiss that started before the countdown was over. ;-)

A few years ago I resolved to never make any more resolutions, and I'm sticking to that. So instead here are a few of my favorites of 2005.

Books:

Murder of the Angels - Caitlin R. Kiernan. (Although written in 2004 I read it in 2005) A fantastically weird book that introduced me to this author. I spent the rest of the year trying to catch up with past books.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - J. K. Rowling. Another amazing book in the HP series. It answered a lot of questions and left me with a few new ones.

Alta and Sanctuary - Mercedes Lackey. Anything by this author is good.

Movies:

The Exorcism of Emily Rose - I'm always fascinated by religion in movies and this movie reminded me of movies like Stigmata and the Order. Great creepy factor too.

Cinderella Man - I just love looking at Russell Crowe, but this movie was great for all kinds of reasons. What a great story!

Mr. and Mrs. Smith - Two hot people chasing each other around and shooting things up. Nuff said.

March of the Penguins - Appeals to the National Geographic in me. And who doesn't love baby penguins?

Constantine - Once again, this falls under my liking of different views on religion.

Sin City - This thing has Quentin Tarantino written all over it. Which in this case is a good thing.

Alien vs Predator - Nothing will ever be as good as the original movies, but this one is a whole lot better than the last two Alien movies.

Music:

Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists. The metal album of the year.

Huh. Can't think of any other CDs that came out this year that I was impressed with.

Ah well... that be my year in review. Hope 2006 is as good as 2005 was.
