Darkness

Song: Set it Off – Audioslave
Quote: You can have my isolation. You can have the hate that it brings. You can have my absence of faith. You can have my everything. – NIN

I don’t object to constructive criticism. But when something I do is ripped apart merely because it is different from what everyone else has done, that gets to me. I am not pink and fluffy bunnies. I don’t do shiny, happy and flowery. It’s not me. I’m dark, gothic and not terribly cheery. If you don’t like it, that’s fine, but don’t rip it apart just because you disagree. I didn’t tear apart you effort (even though I could have done what you did with my eyes closed). I didn’t say it looked like a child had done it (even though it did).
Not everything in this world is going to be what you think it should be. And that is what makes life interesting. Not everybody can be all smiles and bright colors. Did you ever stop and think that maybe, just maybe, there are people out there who find all that happy crap offensive? Some of us aren’t afraid of the dark.
“…are we like children, left alone in the house at night, who light candle after candle to keep away the darkness? We don’t see that the darkness has a purpose – though we may not understand it – and so, in our terror, we end up burning down the house!” – Time of the Twins by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman
